Bronco from the-breaks dug up one of the most elusive samples in Hip-Hop history when he dusted off Herbie Hancock’s “Jessica” and pitched it down to reveal the haunting melody of Mobb Deep’s seminal “Shook Ones”. This sample tutorial put together by Soul Strut’s Hawkeye correctly identifies the version of “Jessica” that Havoc sampled (Fat Albert Rotunda, 1969) and illustrates how the piano bars were chopped, pitched and assembled into one of the greatest beats in Hip-Hop history.
